How to change icon of shortcuts, folder and files in Mac OSX



If you want to customize the look of your folders, shortcuts and other file types in OSX then here’s how to do it:

  1. Open your desired icon (PNG format for background transparency).
  2. Hit Ctrl+C (copy), make it sure that you are currently on Preview application when you do it.
  3. Then right click on the shortcut/folder/file that you want to change the icon, then select Get Info.
  4. Click the icon from Get Info window, then click Ctrl-V (Paste).



And your done, icon of your shortcut/folder/file has been changed.
